Desert Island Discs

This is such a good game to play on the rainy day, especially if you feel like being all nostalgic. Here are my Desert Island Discs...
1. Smooth by Santana – It Reminds me of being in the car with my dad, he used to wind the windows down and play it really loudly; my brother and me were always torn between mortification and mirth.
2. Last Time I Saw Richard by Joni Mitchell – The album Blue, that this song is from, is my favorite album of all time. It’s a masterpiece of raw honesty, imagery and intelligence.
3. Locus Iste, by Anton Bruckner – when I was fourteen I went to Rome with a school choir, and had the best time of my life. We stayed in an old converted monastery just out side the city and on the last day we all stood around the walls inside the chapel and sang this.
4. Bad Fish by Sublime – reminds me of hanging out in Stratford Upon Avon a few summers ago without a care in the world.
5. Kimberly by Patti Smith – she’s a true poet and performer. Favorite line: ‘Your soul was like a network of spittle, / Like glass balls movin' in like cold streams of logic’
6. Maybes by Mount Kimbie – reminds me of so many aspect of Birmingham, the social culture, the architecture, certain friends, riding though spaghetti junction on the train on the way to college.
